Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Burien, WA | Labor and Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation with permanent staff

• Float within the birth center across triage, labor and delivery, normal newborn transitions, postpartum (couplet care), and OR circulator roles — no floating outside scope of practice
• Provide couplet care for recovered mothers and babies, adhering to AWHONN staffing guidelines (e.g., 1:1 active labor, 1:2–3 couplets)
• Titrate drips per physician order, including Magnesium and Pitocin; monitor epidurals following initiation and rate set by Anesthesia
• Interpret fetal heart monitoring strips independently using the Centricity Perinatal system; document in EPIC
• Circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience preferred though a designated surgical tech is available 24/7
• Care for Special Care Nursery patients (Level 2, infants >1,800g) if applicable experience is confirmed prior to contract start

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• Triage experience required
• Ability to transition normal newborns and circulate for C-sections
• Level 2 Special Care Nursery experience required if assigned to nursery duties

• Scrubbing experience for C-sections
• Experience caring for high-risk OB patients including multiples (twins), VBACs, hypertension, and hemorrhage
• Familiarity with Centricity Perinatal fetal monitoring and EPIC EMR
• Antepartum experience including preterm labor, infections, and post-op gynecology

• Traveler-friendly environment with a collaborative, team-oriented culture and a charge nurse on every shift who does not carry a patient load
• Unit follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with dedicated surgical tech coverage 24/7 and Anesthesia dedicated exclusively to OB
