Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)

About the RoleYou will report to the Plasma Center Manager and support plasma center operations. Key responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and providing donor notifications for unsuitable test results.
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility according to SOPs; follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of the Center Physician’s standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; consult EHS guidance for employee incidents.
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Hourly wage range: $31.92 – $43.89.
