Key Responsibilities
  • Greet, engage, and assist customers while maintaining a visible and friendly presence.
  • Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Accept and handle various payment methods, including cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and complex loyalty offers, following company policy.
  • Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and work honestly to control loss.
  • Enforce restrictions on sale items such as Alcohol, Tobacco, DVD and other controlled items.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow established procedures for postage, gift cards, coupons, and store promotions.
  • Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
  • Perform preventive equipment maintenance and notify the appropriate department of any repair needs.
  • Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
  • Manage conflict calmly and cooperate in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer service experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Desired Experience
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
