Key Responsibilities- Greet, engage, and assist customers while maintaining a visible and friendly presence.
- Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Accept and handle various payment methods, including cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and complex loyalty offers, following company policy.
- Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and work honestly to control loss.
- Enforce restrictions on sale items such as Alcohol, Tobacco, DVD and other controlled items.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established procedures for postage, gift cards, coupons, and store promotions.
- Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
- Perform preventive equipment maintenance and notify the appropriate department of any repair needs.
- Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Manage conflict calmly and cooperate in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
