Chief Executive Officer, Mills Peninsula Medical Center

Sutter Health seeks an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mills Peninsula Medical Center (MPMC). This is a unique opportunity to lead one of Northern California's most respected community-based medical centers while leveraging the resources, scale, and strategic advantages of one of the nation's leading integrated health systems.

The CEO will assume leadership of a high-performing organization with an exceptional reputation for clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and community trust. Reporting to the Division President and serving as a key member of the regional and system leadership team, the CEO will guide MPMC through an evolving healthcare landscape while advancing growth, strengthening physician partnerships, and expanding the organization's impact across the communities it serves.

This role presents an exceptional platform for a leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, physician engagement, and external relations. The CEO will lead a uniquely integrated care delivery enterprise encompassing both the flagship Burlingame campus and the San Mateo campus, which operate under the same hospital license and tax identification structure. Together, these campuses provide a broad continuum of inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and specialty care services across the San Francisco Peninsula.

The CEO will have the opportunity to shape the future of care delivery by cultivating strong relationships with employed and independent physicians, accelerating service line growth, and enhancing the medical center's role as a trusted healthcare destination. Equally important, the CEO will serve as MPMC's chief ambassador to the community. The medical center enjoys a longstanding reputation for delivering high-quality care, and the organization seeks a visible, approachable leader who embraces community engagement as a core responsibility.

The successful candidate will be a community-focused, collaborative, emotionally intelligent executive who combines strategic vision with operational discipline. Candidates must possess a track record of leading complex healthcare organizations, fostering high-performing cultures, delivering strong results, and building trusted partnerships with employed and independent physicians to advance quality, growth, patient experience, and organizational performance. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

This role is based in Burlingame, CA.

The salary range for this role is $521,800 – $705,900. Compensation considers several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training, and organizational needs. Qualifications will be considered for higher placement in the range. Base pay is just one component of Sutter Health's total rewards program, and this role includes a comprehensive benefits package.
