Cost Accountant

Our client, a leading food processing and distribution company, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their team in Burlington.

If you are a proactive individual with a strong background in cost accounting within ideally a manufacturing environment and have SAP knowledge (bonus!), this role offers the autonomy to establish processes and make a tangible impact.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze variances in the P&L statement, with a specific focus on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
• Identify the main drivers behind observed variances.
• Contribute to planning and forecasting activities.
• Perform month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and provide insightful commentary.
• Dissect direct material, direct labor, and overhead to align with the overall P&L.
• Actively participate in the SAP S4 HANA integration.
• Establish and streamline financial processes to enhance efficiencies within the organization.
• Collaborate with various departments, engaging on the production floor to understand daily operations and build strong working relationships.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of solid experience in cost accounting within ideally a manufacturing environment.
• SAP knowledge is highly preferred, or experience with other large ERP systems
• Ability to analyze BOMs
• Bachelor's degree (BBA or BCom) in finance or accounting
• Strong communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships and challenge the status quo.
