We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and service-oriented Senior Audit Associate to join our team.
Purpose of the position:As a Senior Audit Associate, you will lead larger and more complex engagements while continuing to advance your technical expertise. You will collaborate closely with leaders across the firm and engage directly with clients to develop your professional network, business acumen and relationship management skills. You will also demonstrate leadership through mentoring, coaching, and training of team members, fostering their growth and contributing to the success of the team.
Keyresponsibilities and duties:
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of audit and review engagements for private businesses and not-for-profit organizations, including the preparation of related corporate tax returns.
- Independently complete compilation engagements including preparation of corporate income tax returns.
- Develop audit approaches that respond appropriately to identified risks and evaluate audit findings for their impact on the financial statements, management letter, and audit report.
- Research non-routine accounting and assurance matters in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and Canadian Auditing Standards, and provide clear recommendations on the appropriate treatment.
- Proactively coordinate engagement planning, including engagement letters, client-request lists, budgets, timelines, staffing, fieldwork, and completion.
- Manage competing deadlines across multiple engagements while delivering high-quality client service.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and support to junior team members to assist in their professional development.
- Maintain strong relationships with key client contacts and communicate information requirements, engagement status, findings, and emerging issues clearly and professionally.
- Identify and resolve engagement issues, escalating complex matters to managers or partners as appropriate.
- Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and team workflow; identify variances or delays and proactively recommend solutions to the engagement manager.
- Ability to interpret financial information, identify areas of significance or risk, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting, assurance and tax developments and apply this to client engagements.
- Demonstrate ongoing progress toward the competencies expected at the Senior Associate level.
- Minimum 2 years of audit and assurance experience in a public accounting firm, including experience through at least 2 two busy seasons.
- Demonstrated experience leading or acting as the senior team member on audit and review engagements.
- CPA designation completed or actively pursuing the designation with expected completion within the next 12 months.
- Post-secondary graduate of an accounting or finance program
- Proficient in the use of Case Ware/Case View and Tax Prep software.
- Working knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, Canadian Auditing Standards, and relevant Canadian corporate tax requirements.
