Position: Extended Day Program DECE/RECE

Salary Range: In accordance with Collective Agreement

Work Schedule/

Shifts:

10 month/year (September to June) – as required. Mornings: 6:45 am to 10:15 am / 6:45 am to 2:15 pm. Afternoons: 2:45 pm to 6:15 pm / 10:45 am to 6:15 pm

Effective Date: Immediately

Eligibility: Eligible Applicants are current DECE Occasional Staff and external applicants. If successful, applicants will be placed on the Extended Day Program supply list.

First Aid Training: Will be provided if required.

This position requires RECE/DECEs to provide a professional, play‑based licensed before and after school program for children aged 3.8 to 12 years, following the Ministry of Education “How Does Learning Happen?” provisions and the Child Care and Early Years Act. The role may also involve supplying coverage for the full day kindergarten program.

• Fulfill duties in both before/after school programs and the Full Day Kindergarten core day.
• Apply pedagogical practices aligned with early learning and child development, ministry guidelines and curriculum documents.
• Comply with the Child Care and Early Years Act, Education Act and related regulations.
• Understand developmental needs of children 3.8 to 12 years.
• Set up and move equipment in shared school spaces as required.
• Conduct daily activities that meet developmental needs.
• Maintain child supervision and health and safety at all times.
• Collaborate with parents and community contacts.

• Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
• Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR-C & AED certification (Level
  
  C) or willingness to obtain.
• Current Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Current health assessment and immunization per local Public Health guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working computer knowledge.
• Availability and commitment to pick up supply jobs in the Extended Day Program.
