We redefine what’s possible in some of the world’s most complex projects and toughest environments. Delivering innovative, value-add consulting, project delivery, asset operations and maintenance solutions is what we do. From 22 offices in 9 countries, with projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we create sustainable outcomes for our people, clients and communities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Engineer (NPI) to join our Team. We are looking for a Senior Site Project Engineer with strong experience in mining and minerals projects, specifically in non-process infrastructure (NPI) and large-scale earthworks. This role is site-based and plays a critical part in ensuring that construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with engineering standards, project schedules, and cost objectives.
You will act as the key interface between engineering, construction, and project management teams, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery of site works.
About
The Role
Oversee day-to-day site engineering activities related to non-process infrastructure and earthworks (e.g., roads, drainage, foundations, laydown areas, buildings, utilities).
Coordinate with EPC/EPCM teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure work is executed per design, specifications, and scope.
Review IFC drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work to ensure constructability and completeness.
Support construction planning, sequencing, and work packaging.
Provide technical support to field teams, resolving engineering queries and field changes (RFIs, NCRs, site instructions).
Ensure proper interpretation and implementation of geotechnical, civil, and structural designs.
Monitor earthworks activities including excavation, back filling, compaction, grading, and material suitability.
Validate quantities, progress measurements, and contractor claims.
Ensure all works comply with project quality standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in inspections, audits, and quality control processes.
Review and approve ITPs (Inspection Test Plans) and method statements.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities comply with site HSE policies.
Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Ensure contractors adhere to environmental and sustainability requirements.
Track progress against schedule and identify risks or delays.
Support project controls with reporting, forecasting, and productivity analysis.
Assist in managing cost impacts related to changes, delays, or site conditions.
Act as a liaison between site teams, engineering offices, and project management.
Provide regular updates, reports, and technical input to leadership.
Support client interactions and site visits as required.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
12+ years of experience in mining and minerals projects, with significant site-based exposure.
Proven experience in non-process infrastructure (NPI) and large earthworks projects.
Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM project delivery models.
Experience working in remote site environments and rotational roles.
Strong knowledge of earthworks, geotechnical principles, and civil construction practices.
Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with project management and construction tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
Solid understanding of QA/QC processes and documentation.
Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced site environments.
High level of adaptability and decision-making capability.
Experience on large-scale mining projects (greenfield or brownfield).
