The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Writer to join our team  a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for our entire range of airborne stabilized gimbals and systems. You will work very closely with our Engineering, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering Labs to understand our products and translate technical information into clear and concise documentation for our customer and system users.

Reporting directly to the Vice President Operations, you will collaborate to conceive, draft and produce/maintain technical manuals for PVLabs full product line of stabilized airborne gimbals products and integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission-systems.

This role will be perfect for anyone who desires to start with a clean canvas and create the frameworks and design language that will become another key differentiator of PVLabs market positioning as a technical leader in our market.

There will potentially be additional opportunities for reimagining our bids/proposal response framework, marketing collateral and specification sheets as well however our primary focus is the technical and assembly documentation.

Primary Responsibilities
Work closely with our Engineering, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering labs to fully understand our systems and features
Research documentation and develop data from system requirements specifications and design documents through direct collaboration with our Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering labs.
Produce completely new technical content to support the assembly processes for an entirely new product line of 10 25 airborne gimbals, from assembly through to field support.
Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and user-friendly
Support the technical publications contributions to bid and proposal activities by generation of task estimates, compliance responses and production of proposal material.
Final editing of manuals and technical documentation, releasing publication material through our ERP system.
Develop operations and maintenance manuals according to industry and Customer specifications and standards (US MIL SPEC, ATA 100, S1000D, DITA)
Develop effective business relationships with design and systems engineering staff for the purpose of generating and reviewing technical manuals.
Assist the PVLabs Vice President Operations and Vice President Quality & Business Performance in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Capabilities
A well-developed ability to read, interpret and translate engineering drawings, specifications and other technical documentation into assembly, operating and maintenance information for system operators and maintainers.
Mastery of the English language in written form and the ability to translate complex mechanical and electrical concepts into instructions, specifications etc.
Matured and proven interpersonal and organizational skills
Adobe Frame Maker or other technical publishing packages are a key asset like Arbortest, Adobe Illustrator, S1000D, XML
XML/SGML is also highly desirable
Experienced user of Microsoft Office tools with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project
Familiarity with Interactive Electronic Technical Manual implementation is desirable

Desired

Education and Experience s
Bachelors degree in relevant discipline and a minimum of 4 years of technical writing experience for highly complex systems
Graduate degree in relevant discipline and 2 years technical writing experience, or
In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years technical writing experience
Practical experience of SGML/XML preferably to S1000D or other Military standards is preferred.

Experience with / strong understanding of mechatronics and optical systems/subsystems would be a key differentiator
