Mechanical CAD Designer

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a  Mechanical CAD Designer  to join our team. The CAD Designer will work with multi-disciplined engineering, design, and project teams in developing design drawings utilizing AutoCAD and other related products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create, edit, and modify AutoCAD drawings based on design provided by engineers

Utilize annotation for clarification

Develop and read mechanical piping and steel structures as well as mechanical and shop drawings

Collaborate with engineers and shop and construction operations to meet fabrication and constructability requirements.

Typical Design will Consist of:

Mechanical and Steel Structure Layout Plans

Structural Specifications and Notes

Mechanical and Steel Structure Fabrication Drawings

Steel Connection Details

Assist with design tasks including structural modeling, detailing, bill of materials

Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements with accuracy and efficiency

Self-checks all work performed to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to internal review

Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence, attending meetings, and other project documents required for project completion

Education:

Post Secondary Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Required:

5 or more years of relevant CAD drafting design

Qualifications

Required:

High proficient use of Autodesk AutoCAD

Use of Inventor, Solid Works, or similar 3D software is a plus

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and steel structural designs

Experience with mechanical piping, fittings, valves, steel structures, and sheet metals

Understanding of engineering principles and assembly, fabrication, and construction workflows

Knowledge of project management software and computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point

Organized team player able to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills
