TWD is currently seeking an Intermediate / Senior
Electrical Designer with Minerals & Metals experience to join our Burlington,
ON office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design of electrical layouts for cable raceways, lighting, electrical grounding and lightning protection systems, substations, E-Houses, and heat tracing elements
• Design and develop high voltage (230 kV+) single line/3-line diagrams as instructed by Engineers.
• Prepare 3D model for HV electrical equipment, underground ducts and cable trays
• Prepare equipment list and load list for the entire project
• Design electrical heat tracing system and prepare bill of materials
• Design and develop control schematics for motors, switchgear and plant lighting systems
• Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules and termination drawings in consultation with single line diagrams and vendor drawings
• Review vendor drawings for MCC, switchgear, UPS and other electrical equipment, as required
• Provides technical guidance to lower-level design/drafting personnel and reviews completed assignments for accuracy
• Interface with other disciplines (civil and mechanical) on design and multidiscipline packages Prepare electrical area classification drawings
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in the Minerals & Metals.
• 3D software experience.
• Ability to coach and assist team members
• Strong field experience in operating facilities
• Familiar with low voltage switchgear and switchboards
• Thorough understanding of CEC and NEC codes
• Thorough knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems and API-505 standard
• Degree or diploma in electrical technology.
• Experience in preparing load list, voltage drop calculation, cable schedule, equipment list and bill of materials
• Thorough in design of cable tray system, cable tray loading and heat tracing design
• Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
• Expertise in E&I design practices for the heavy industry
