Building Engineer

Position: Building Engineer at City
Advance your engineering career with the City of Burlington as a Building Engineer. This hybrid role focuses on interpreting building codes, site inspections, and plans examination.

As a Building Engineer, you will report to the Deputy CBO & Manager, Building Permits. You will ensure conformity with the Ontario Building Code while advising architects and engineers on complex designs and regulatory compliance. Your expertise in mechanical and life safety systems will also be essential as you facilitate the permit application process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure plans meet the Ontario Building Code standards

• Analyze architectural and engineering designs for compliance

• Conduct site inspections for safety evaluations

• Provide guidance on regulatory requirements

• Prepare and present technical reports on designs

Requirements:

• University degree in Engineering or Architecture

• PEO designation eligibility in Ontario

• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience

• 2 years in large/complex building regulations

• Strong problems solving and technical skills
