1 Position Available

The CAD Designer prepares engineering drawings and performs basic calculations to support the Applications Engineering Group. This role requires thorough knowledge of creating drawings in Solid Works.

• Review and consideration of information presented
• Design of engineered solutions incorporating Thordon's products, designs, concepts and installation techniques

• Preparation of CAD part drawings and assemblies in Solid Works and AutoCAD

• Coordination with manufacturing to ensure designs can be manufactured and are cost-effective

• Perform quality-checking activities of junior CAD Designers to ensure correctness and completeness

• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings required
• Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office, Database Applications, and Solid Works
• Thorough Knowledge of Solid Works PDM Vault system
• Ability to solve practical problems
• Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work as required

• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Must be able to react to change productively and undertake other tasks as assigned
• Excellent communication skills.

• CET designation is preferred
• CAD 3D proficiency with Parts & Assemblies using Solid Works
• Minimum 3 years' experience with Solid Works
• Minimum 3 years' experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with seals, marine equipment, hydro turbines or pumps is an asset
• Thordon Product knowledge is an asset

The role requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation, including frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. The employee must be able to view and analyze detailed drawings, plans, and specifications on screen for extended periods. The role also occasionally requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching to access files or equipment and collaborate with team members, as well as lifting and carrying office materials, drawings, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.

Effective communication is required in person, by phone, and through virtual meetings.
