Evertz AV is looking for a Service Engineer to join our AV Service team with a specific focus on Control System customization and deployment with a specific focus on VUE, our software-defined control and monitoring platform.
VUE unifies control of MAGNUM-orchestrated broadcast/AV infrastructure — routing, multiviewers, master control, and audio processing — into a single customizable, widget-based interface. VUE is extensible to third-party equipment through device drivers and direct API integration .
You will be responsible for extending VUE's reach into new and existing customer environments by working with consultants, system integrators and/or end users to understand workflows and/or specific UI requirements, create the control surface, test and deploy. The role requires in-depth knowledge of VUE configuration options including building and modifying device drivers , scripting control and automation where needed and implementing direct API control (REST, SOAP, SNMP, Web Socket, serial protocols, and proprietary vendor SDKs) when a pre-built driver doesn't exist or needs customization.
You will be the technical bridge between customer requirements, third-party device documentation, and Evertz's control ecosystem — playing an integral role system deployment and functionality.
What You'll Do
- Configuration & Control Design Design, build, and deploy custom VUE widget layouts and workspaces tailored to customer operational workflows Integrate VUE with MAGNUM-OS for router control, multiviewer management, master control/branding, and playout systems Configure alarms, salvos, UMDs, and automation/override widgets to match site-specific operational requirements Device Driver Development Create new device drivers for third-party equipment not natively supported by VUE, based on vendor protocol documentation (serial, IP, etc.)
Modify and extend existing Evertz device drivers to support additional functionality, firmware revisions, or non-standard implementations Test, validate, and document driver behavior against real hardware in lab and field environments Work with Evertz product/R&D teams to escalate driver issues, contribute improvements back into the driver library, and stay current on VUE's driver framework as it evolves Third-Party API Integration Evaluate third-party device APIs (REST, SOAP, Web Socket, proprietary SDKs) and determine the best integration path — existing driver, custom driver, or direct API call configuration within VUE Configure VUE to communicate directly with device-native APIs where full driver development isn't required or practical Troubleshoot authentication, polling/subscription behavior, and latency issues between VUE and third-party systems Document integration patterns for reuse across future projects and customers Field & Customer Support Commission VUE-based control systems on customer sites and deliver operational training Respond to customer issues involving control logic, driver behavior, or third-party integration failures;
troubleshoot to root cause Partner with sales engineering and product management to scope control/integration requirements during the pre-sales and design phase Author internal documentation (driver specs, integration notes, best practices) for the technical support and engineering teams What You Bring
- Required Degree or diploma in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent hands-on experience Hands-on programming/scripting ability (e.g., C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar) sufficient to build or modify device drivers from a protocol spec Working knowledge of common device communication protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, serial (RS-232/RS-422/RS-485), SNMP, and RESTful/SOAP web APIs Comfort reading third-party equipment documentation (protocol manuals, SDKs, MIBs, APIs and other standards specifications) and translating it into working control logic Strong troubleshooting instincts — comfortable diagnosing whether an issue lives in the device, the network, the driver, or the VUE configuration Willingness to travel to customer sites for commissioning, training,…
