Support mental health crisis care as a Registered Nurse at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario, with assessment and crisis intervention expertise.
This regular part-time Registered Nurse works in JBH’s Mental Health Crisis Program across days, nights, evenings, weekends, and extended hours. The position requires recent mental health nursing experience and knowledge of serious mental illness care. Practice includes Mental Status Examinations, psychopharmacology, therapeutic relationships, and relevant mental health legislation.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and manage patients with serious mental illness
- Conduct Mental Status Examinations
- Apply crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
- Manage co-morbid medical disorders
- Prioritize care and make autonomous decisions
- Current College of Nurses of Ontario registration
- Minimum one year recent mental health nursing experience
- Current BCLS and CPI Crisis Prevention Training
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act and consent legislation
- Proficient computer skills and RAI-MH training upon hire
