Test Development Engineer

About the Role

Trans Union is hiring a Consultant, Quality Assurance to join our hybrid team, working remotely and onsite at an assigned U.S. office two days per week.

• Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyze requirements and deliver solutions to complex issues, ensuring testability and automation feasibility.
• Provide feedback on design, both functional and technical, and contribute to impact assessments for feature enhancements.
• Deeply understand industry-standard methodologies of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Test Life Cycle (STLC), Agile, and Scrum.
• Participate in code reviews and testing initiatives across development, Dev‑Ops, and infrastructure teams.
• Conduct test design, planning, automation development, and execution; perform manual testing and exploratory testing to uncover weaknesses.
• Create robust automated tests with a focus on maintainability, reusability, long‑term sustainability, and efficiency.
• Provide test consultation to Scrum team members to assist them in developing robust unit test suites.
• Take ownership of ensuring quality of deliverables, team outputs, and departmental goals.
• Lead automation development responsibilities, including code review, bug analysis, impact analysis, test tool development, and identification of automation opportunities.
• Contribute to improvements in functional testing coverage, test framework design, test suite development, and expansion of automated testing harness via CI/CD.

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in all phases of the testing life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, and testing of complex enterprise applications.
• Experience with manual and automated test development, defect management, and building robust test suites.
• Hands‑on experience developing automated test strategies and frameworks for API services.
• Solid understanding of web service concepts (HTTP, SOAP, REST) and related technologies such as JSON and XML.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and basic server administration (JBOSS, Spring Boot).
• Knowledge of source code versioning (preferred Git Hub), Harness, Jenkins, Ansible, and CI/CD tools.
• Working knowledge of testing tools and frameworks:
  Selenium (Java or C#), Rest Assured, Cucumber (BDD), Playwright, Postman, TestNG, Maven, SoapUI, JIRA.
• Experience with database testing for Postgres and Microsoft SQL databases, middleware/backend testing, and SQL querying.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated critical thinking.
• Engineering or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related technical field is preferred.

Expected annual pay range: $89,000 - $123,000. Variable compensation may be awarded based on performance, company guidance, and applicable plan documents. Benefits include health, vision, and dental coverage, retirement plans, and other standard Trans Union benefits.

This hybrid position requires regular performance of duties virtually and in‑person at a designated Trans Union office location for a minimum of two days per week.
