Branch Supervisor – Torrington Savings Bank

Overview: Process the complete range of Branch Operation functions while providing superior Customer Service. The incumbent may also be charged with decision making and managing the branch in the event of a temporary absence of management staff. The Branch Supervisor may be asked to assist with coaching junior employees in operational, compliance and sales functions.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Accurately process various transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, issue money orders and Treasurer’s Checks, redeem US Savings Bonds.
  • Answer complex customer queries.
  • Handle cash and run/balance a cash box.
  • Use, balance and maintain the TCR (Cash Recycler).
  • Contribute to branch goal achievement through sales, referrals, and retention of account relationships and excellent customer service.
  • Identify customer needs and effectively sell and cross‑sell products and services through communicating ideas, suggestions and solutions.
  • Open all deposit accounts.
  • Take Residential and Consumer Loan applications (NMLS Certification required).
  • Obtain Notary Public stake.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, including accurate completion of CTRs.
  • Work effectively in a team environment with emphasis on contributing to the successful execution of a branch business plan.
  • Refer customers to bank employees who specialize in the type of problem or query they present (Mortgage Loan Originator, Commercial Loan Officer, etc.).
  • Comply with established policies, procedures and work ethics.
  • Balance vault, ATM, and branch.
  • Serve as the Branch Operations designee when assigned.
  • Supervise staff and daily branch operations.
  • Assist with coaching and mentoring staff members to attain their highest potential in customer service and operational skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of retail banking experience and knowledge of branch operations.
  • Some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Effective listener and communicator.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and make sound decisions, following bank guidelines.
  • Ability to handle money and recall details of transaction services.
  • Ability to precisely follow policies and procedures and seek assistance as needed.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Busy office environment with moderate noise: computers, printers, phones, light traffic. Must focus and not be easily distracted. Must sit for at least 70% of the workday. Movement required between workstations, offices, vaults, lobby, etc. Must see computer screen and read documents. Ability to multitask. Able to lift 10 lbs. Ability to travel to other bank offices and branches, off‑site meetings, company related functions with short notice.

Satisfactorily complete all required compliance training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.

  • Remain alert to and report malicious or suspected malicious email.

  • Provide feedback where possible to help improve the bank’s security culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
