Inventory Control Specialist

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting effective inventory management at our food manufacturing facility. This role performs cycle counts, investigates variances, ensures proper product rotation, and works closely with Warehouse, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams to support production needs and minimize inventory discrepancies. The Inventory Control Specialist plays a key role in protecting inventory accuracy, supporting food safety/traceability, and driving continuous improvement in inventory processes.

• Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventories of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
• Investigate and resolve inventory variances in a timely manner; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through proper transactions and adjustments.
• Ensure correct product rotation (FIFO/FEFO) and proper storage practices in accordance with food safety standards.
• Support receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping processes to help maintain inventory accuracy.
• Coordinate with Warehouse, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams on inventory-related issues and material availability.
• Assist with lot tracking, traceability, and hold/release processes as needed.
• Generate inventory reports and provide data to support production planning and decision-making.
• Identify process gaps and support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, or materials experience (food manufacturing or regulated environment preferred).
• Experience with inventory management systems or software.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food safety standards (GMPs) and willingness to work in a food manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production and inventory activities.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs and work in varying plant conditions (including refrigerated or ambient areas) as required.

• Experience in food manufacturing or food distribution.
• Knowledge of FIFO/FEFO practices and lot traceability.
• Experience with cycle counting best practices and variance root-cause analysis.
