Thrift Store Clerk

Part‑Time 28 Hours Per Week – Tuesday to Saturday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $12.00 Per Hour

To maintain the thrift store at a standard operating level and complete all daily duties and responsibilities.

• Keep all shelves and clothing racks full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist the management team to investigate, price, and prepare items for sale as needed.
• Process all merchandise efficiently and properly following established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise to promote sales.
• Learn and then train on the entire processing system, including the cash register.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers when needed.
• Provide good customer service by being polite, prompt, and courteous in line with the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED; retail and/or cash register experience preferred but not required.

• Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web‑based system.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English preferred.
• Attention to detail and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.

The physical demands include good speaking, hearing, and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and operate office equipment. May need to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position may require lifting or moving more than 50 pounds occasionally.

The work environment is in a retail setting; the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
