Responsibilities
  • The Commercial Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. Under the guidance of the Area Service Manager (ASM), the technician will handle routine service, warranty work, and emergency repairs, ensuring systems meet industry standards.
  • Provides the highest level of customer service, technical ability, and quality to our customers.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers and rack units.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of the commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Travels to job sites in assigned service area and works with assigned Dispatcher(s) to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers.
  • Available to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs for customers.
  • Maintains good working order of company vehicle and equipment; including cleaning, organization, and routine maintenance.
  • Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, and pictures as necessary.
  • Document details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through company-provided cell phone and/or iPad applications.
  • Diagnoses service issues, obtains necessary replacement parts, calibrates systems according to manufacturer specifications, and clearly communicates issues and recommended solutions to the client.
  • Participates in company-provided training opportunities and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and reports potential opportunities for additional business to management.
  • Follows all environmental regulations, including the handling and disposal of refrigerants, in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned client sites and ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications
  • EPA Certification;
    Specific Industry Certification/License;
    High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years of HVAC/R technician field experience; valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems; proficient in reading schematics, work plans, and using diagnostic tools, refrigerant recovery equipment, and specialized instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and understanding of HVAC/R principles.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team; highly dependable and consistent in delivering quality work; enthusiastic with integrity and craftsmanship.
  • Basic computer skills for communication and documentation using iPads and/or cell phones.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed; lift up to 100 lbs; ability to stand for extended periods; ability to climb and perform physically demanding tasks.
