Overview
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Community Access and Eligibility Division, Child Support Services, is seeking a Support Recovery Officer to join our Burlington team to help Iowa families successfully navigate the child support process. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in establishing, enforcing, and monitoring child support and medical support orders, as well as encouraging families to provide financial and emotional support for their children.
Responsibilities- Independently analyzing complex case situations and legal scenarios
- Manage an assigned caseload and perform complex case management
- Prioritize tasks and time to meet performance goals and critical deadlines
- Communicate with customers, community partners, human service agencies, employers, court clerks, and attorneys through phone, email and written correspondence to achieve the goals of the Child Support Program
- Build strong working relationships with parents to help them overcome reluctance to cooperate with Child Support Services and programs
- Independently analyze a variety of complex case situations and legal scenarios to determine the appropriate action to establish, enforce, or modify support
- Use Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiently; learning other computerized systems including ICAR as needed
- Comprehend and adhere to all confidentiality provisions in the Code of Iowa
- Adapt to work pressures and changing situations with ease
- Work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability/willingness to learn new software
- Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and procedures
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Someone that is able to travel occasionally

- Hours are Monday – Friday 8:00am
-4:30 pm, with a hybrid work environment after full training period
