We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to join our Finance team, with primary responsibility for fixed asset accounting and support for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This role will maintain the integrity of the fixed asset subledger, ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation, prepare account reconciliations and journal entries, and partner cross‑functionally to support timely and accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, sound judgement, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and depreciation.
- Review capital expenditure activity and supporting documentation to ensure costs are appropriately classified and capitalized in accordance with company policy and U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with business owners, Procurement, and Accounts Payable to resolve fixed asset coding, purchase order, invoice, and in‑service date questions.
- Prepare and post recurring and nonrecurring journal entries related to fixed assets, depreciation, construction in progress, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other assigned close areas.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of fixed asset and other assigned balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Monitor construction‑in‑progress balances and coordinate with project owners to place completed assets into service promptly.
- Support periodic physical asset inventories and asset verification activities, including research and resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare fixed asset roll‑forwards, depreciation forecasts, and other schedules supporting management reporting and financial statement disclosures.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
- Provide documentation and schedules for internal and external audits, including support for asset additions, disposals, reconciliations, and key controls.
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and established close procedures.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve close efficiency, strengthen controls, and expand accuracy of fixed asset reporting.
