Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with an innovative healthcare technology company to identify a Lab Supervisor for a brand-new laboratory facility in Burlington, MA.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the laboratory during its initial build-out and launch phase. The Lab Supervisor will be one of the first members of the laboratory team and will play a critical role in establishing day-to-day operations, implementing processes, supporting validation activities, and helping build the laboratory from the ground up.
The laboratory will serve as a centralized R&D support facility, bringing testing and validation work in-house and supporting the continued growth of a rapidly expanding healthcare technology business.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter and experienced laboratory professional who is comfortable operating in a startup environment, creating structure where processes are still being developed, and taking ownership of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities- Help lead the launch and day-to-day operations of a new laboratory facility.
- Establish and implement laboratory workflows, procedures, and operational processes.
- Ensure laboratory activities are performed in accordance with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
- Provide hands-on supervision and support to laboratory testing personnel.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and validation of laboratory testing procedures.
- Support the laboratory's transition from setup and validation into routine operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure laboratory records are complete and compliant.
- Assist with equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and implementation.
- Work closely with laboratory leadership and cross-functional R&D teams to support testing needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, quality, and workflow.
- Help establish staffing schedules and ensure appropriate laboratory coverage.
- Train, mentor, and support laboratory personnel as the team grows.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and take ownership of resolving problems.
- Maintain a strong culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform hands-on laboratory testing and other duties as needed, particularly during the initial launch phase.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Prior experience working in a laboratory environment subject to New York State laboratory requirements is required.
- Previous laboratory supervisory, lead, or management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations, quality systems, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with laboratory validation and/or implementing new testing processes strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Comfortable building laboratory processes and workflows from the ground up.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to be hands-on and actively involved in laboratory operations.
- Experience working with automated laboratory instrumentation is preferred.
- NY State laboratory licensure/eligibility is strongly preferred.
