Field Service Technician - Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, FL Metro
Join Millipore Sigma as a Field Service Technician and deliver exceptional technical support across the Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Florida Metro area.
Your RoleIn this role, you will perform installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and qualification of water purification systems, provide backup support to neighboring territories, and manage an on‑site service schedule. You will also generate new business leads and assist with custom system installations.
Travel:
Overnight travel and expanded territory visits may be required. A company vehicle will be provided. Expense reports are to be submitted every two weeks. Shift may include overtime and emergency service hours.
- Provide professional service on a timely basis: perform maintenance, installs, repairs, and system validations according to scheduled or on‑demand client requests, respecting customer on‑site rules and housekeeping standards.
- Accurately complete Work Orders and related documentation; close Work Orders daily.
- Deliver appropriate documentation to customers, such as Service Reports, Meter Verification Reports, and Routine Maintenance reports.
- Maintain a detailed daily schedule, proactively communicate changes to customers, and adapt to repairs.
- Notify Manager when the schedule impacts customer satisfaction or a job cannot be completed within the requested timeframe.
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools and consumables following SOP guidelines.
- Maintain tools and test equipment in proper working order and calibration.
- Generate leads for new hardware, consumables, accessories, and service contracts via the current CRM.
- Assist with custom engineered system installations under the guidance of the Supervisor, Manager, or Custom Systems Team.
- Lift 66 lbs unaided; move up to 165 lbs with assistance.
- Pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs.
- Perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, turning, kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing, and manipulating tools.
- Occasional use of a half‑mask respirator.
- Visual acuity of 20/40 corrected vision or better in each eye, with color discrimination of red, green, and yellow.
- High School diploma or GED with 3+ years of field service experience, skilled trade expertise, mechanical proficiency, plumbing capabilities, technical skills, or military electronics experience.
- Electronics background or experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents.
- Proficiency with tools and test equipment (hand tools, voltage meter, power tools, test boxes).
- Strong technical acumen with troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, customer‑focused and able to handle difficult situations.
- Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Basic IT skills for field service software and equipment communication.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
$28.00 – $43.00 per hour.
