Overview

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, and more. As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with developing, debugging, or designing software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers and specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Responsibilities and duties are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role or supervise lower level personnel.

As a member on the Dataplane team, you will design and develop major core components of Oracle’s Virtual Cloud Network. You will be responsible for delivering high‑speed packet processing architectures and other distributed systems that provide networking features such as TCP/UDP packet processing, access controls, metrics, and monitoring dashboards.

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years distributed cloud engineering experience in a software development environment.
• Experience developing service‑oriented architectures and web services security solutions.
• Proficient with data structures, algorithms, operating systems.
• Experience with distributed systems: familiarity with CAP theorem, Consensus, messaging, high availability, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences.
• Excellent in making high impact judgment calls during a large scale operational events.
• Experience with distributed systems: HA, state replication.
• Experience working with various network virtualization technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Linux networking constructs.
• Software‑based packet forwarding experience.
• Experience working with fast and large‑scale read/write intensive distributed systems.
• Understand fundamental network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and etc.
• Proficient at programming in C++ and Python.
• Proficient with Linux and experienced with shell scripting languages.
• Bachelors in computer science and engineering or related engineering fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of object‑oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment.
• Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud‑based platforms.
• Understanding of cross‑functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms.
• Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields.

US:
Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
