Vacation Camp Counselor

Overview

Counselor works in cooperation with the director, assistant directors, and camp counselors carrying out specific program activities. Bring the fun and excitement to kids in need of a playful escape during school break! Let's create an unforgettable atmosphere where laughter and safety are the top priority.

Pay Grade: $19.15 - $20.75 Hourly
Remote Tier 1:
Zero (0) days remote/week

• Available for February School Break (2/23-2/27) and April School Break (4/20-4/24)

• Follow all departmental rules and regulations to ensure a fun, safe, and smooth camp experience.
• Assist in planning and delivery of exciting activities and enriching program.
• Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
• Report all accidents and incidents occurring within jurisdiction to supervisor.
• Administer proper First Aid as required.
• Required to be on site 15 minutes before the program starts for setup and help with cleanup after the program comes to an end.
• Participation in a feedback-driven evaluation process.

• Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
• Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation required.
• College course work in education, childhood development, family studies, or recreation preferred.
• Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.
• Ability to deal effectively with disagreements, co-workers and supervisors.
• Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities.
• Knowledge of a variety recreation/leisure activities and group games.
• A cooperative attitude and team player.
• Enthusiasm, patience, a desire to work with children and creativity.
