Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Corporate Merchandising Liaison will act as a strategic partner with an assigned EVP merchant team to gather information on incoming product, working together to develop guidelines for merchandise execution in stores. They will ensure understanding the merchandise vision and communicating to the field and stores via directional guidelines. The Senior Manager will attend all seasonal strategy meetings as the voice of the stores to ensure alignment, which will be communicated to field and store teams to maximize sales opportunities.
You will partner with Store Planning and Merchandise Allocation to understand space and inventory in existing and new stores. The Senior Manager will visit stores regularly, independently and with GMM groups, to understand challenges that arise and adjustments that may need to occur and will share this information with the assigned EVP. In addition, travel will be required for leadership visits & needs of the business.
The SMCML will work closely with the Director of Communications/ Gatekeeper to understand calendar and scrutinize submissions to guarantee a balanced workload for store teams.
- Act as a strategic partner with EVP merchant team to gather information on incoming product, working together to develop guidelines for merchandise execution in stores.
- Write documentation that incorporates the merchant’s vision to align with Burlington 2.5. Format must be easy to digest and execute.
- Partner with store planning to create new store floor plans, appropriate space based on planned sales and merchandise builds by geographic area and store size.
- Work in stores to test and set merchandising concepts. Validate the vision appropriately, highlights product and is easily executable.
- Maintain merchandise guidelines, fixture profiles and pre‑fix changes making appropriate updates throughout the year.
- Shop competitors on a frequent basis to stay up to date on new merchandising concepts and gather ideas that might improve our execution.
- Education:
BA/BS or equivalent experience. - Experience:
5-10 years of retail leadership experience; 3+ years of merchandising experience preferred. - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally to accomplish tasks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Able to problem‑solve taking business needs into account.
- Extensive travel required based on time of year.
- Physically demanding due to time in store necessitating standing for entire shift and involves a great deal of lifting.
