This position is responsible for safely crossing school age children at an appointed post before and after school.

Pay Grade: $20.00 Hourly, $40 Daily
Remote Tier 1:
Zero (0) days remote/week
- Safely escort children across the street at appointed intersections in the City of Burlington using the crosswalks.
- Guide pedestrian traffic at such places as streets, schools, railroad crossings, or construction sites.
- Act as “Ambassador” for the City, carrying out work and interacting with co-workers and the public in a respectful, professional manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Must be able to work 2 shifts a day: 7:30 am – 8:20 am and 2:40 pm – 3:20 pm.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Must wear Crossing Guard Traffic safety vest.
- Ability to use a hand-held 18”x18” Stop sign to stop traffic.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Ability to pass eye and hearing tests.
- Familiarity with traffic control procedures preferred.
- Ability to interact with co-workers and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.

- Ability to maintain a professional appearance while engaging in field work, refraining from use of profanity or inappropriate language or behavior.
- Ability to obtain appropriate certification of completion for all classes and trainings.
- Regular attendance is necessary and essential to meeting the job expectations.
- Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnel policies.
