Ayres is seeking a civil engineer for land development design with a proven track record of technical design and successfully managing or executing a diverse variety of projects. Your work will involve general site civil engineering, land development, stormwater management, and water/wastewater infrastructure development. On any given day, you’ll:

  • Lead and work collaboratively to deliver projects for developers, architects, commercial and industrial clients, and municipal governments.
  • Oversee the technical design on land development, site design for vertical projects, or civil engineering projects including water supply and distribution, sanitary sewers, water main, storm water systems, streets, and other public and private development projects.
  • Gather and analyze data on projects and prepare reports, regulatory submittals, plans and specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Utilize strong business development skills with the drive to expand our client base and cross-sell other Ayres services.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with design team, PMs, and other leaders within the company.
  • Actively engage in professional organizations to maintain and/or share technical knowledge and develop and maintain relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field, from an accredited university.
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) in North Carolina.
  • 12+ years of experience in professional engineering design and project management.
  • Ability to independently manage small to medium-sized projects.
  • Ensure the work is accurate, thorough, and aligns with the established standards while providing helpful feedback.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience serving municipal clients, especially in smaller communities.
  • Working knowledge of Open Roads.
