Position
The Burlington County Human Services Department
- Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center is looking for a Full Time Substance Abuse Counselor 1.
- Conducting lectures over the duration of the IDRC classes. The lectures will run from 1 to 1.5 hours per lecture. Classes are run 2-3 times per month, 2 days per class. Subject matter is substance use and misuse, intoxicated driving, drug and alcohol education.
- During the class the counselor will assist in the monitoring of the class to ensure the clients are all attentive and engaged.
- During the classes, the counselor will screen the clients to determine the need for further assessment.
- The counselor will provide resources to clients found to meet criteria for assessment. This involves signing mandated paperwork and authorizations.
- The counselor is responsible for thorough documentation in 3 computer systems, a local database, and two state databases.
- Counselors are responsible for coordinating with the treatment programs and complying with all privacy laws.
- If treatment is recommended, the counselor is responsible for monitoring the client for the duration of treatment. This involves monthly contact, case management duties, and detailed documentation.
- This process includes regular and timely follow up to abide by state mandated guidelines.
- This process requires the counselor to be familiar with comprehending substance use histories and treatment records, as well as investigating and verifying accuracy of the information.
- Additionally, the counselor must have a knowledge base in substance use treatment and the different levels of care.
- Applicant must possess a certificate as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
- One (1) year of experience in counseling or social work
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
40-hour work week:
Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5pm, with 1-hour lunch break
