Glen Raven is recruiting for a Unix System Admin II. This role will support, administer, and maintain hardware and software associated with NAS/SAN, servers, blades, hypervisors, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and Linux OS.

This is a hybrid role. Work 3 days at our corporate office in Burlington, NC and 2 days at home.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, support, upgrade, and troubleshoot Net App SAN;
    Virtualization (ESXi, Nutanix AHV);
    Red Hat Linux;
    Fedora;
    Windows Server; HP server;
    Virtual Connect platforms; and Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Administer and support Red Hat Satellite and IdM for Linux systems management and identity services.
  • Implement and manage automation and configuration using Ansible and Event-Driven Automation (EDA) tools.
  • Maintain, support, upgrade, and troubleshoot software related to systems monitoring (Azure Monitor); intrusion detection and virus remediation (Patriot); load balancing; and incident response/on‑call management (Pager Duty).
  • Manage backup and recovery operations using Rubrik.
  • Maintain Tomcat, Apache, PHP, shell scripts, Git, Git Hub, business continuity, disaster recovery, and datacenter operations hardware/software.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services in Microsoft Azure; utilize Azure Dev Ops for CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code.
  • Administer and support JIRA Service Management for IT service management and ticketing.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker.
  • Manage digital certificates and PKI infrastructure using Sectigo and other certificate management tools.
  • Daily activities may include installing new or modified hardware, operating systems, and application software.
  • Install/build servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Manage end‑user accounts, access rights, privileges, and group policies.
  • Manage systems resources, including file server utilization, performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Implement security procedures and ensure rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.
  • Follow systems administration standard operating procedures.
  • Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
  • Ensure high levels of systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Maintain system configurations; handle installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements.
  • Perform backup/recovery drills periodically as determined by IS leadership.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Ensure connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
  • Configure systems to ensure smooth and reliable operation while maintaining security.
  • Deliver outstanding service to both internal and external clients through meeting or exceeding established goals.
  • Completion of all required compliance training.
  • Administer servers, including database, e‑mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Monitor and test server performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Implement and support new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Participate in server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Implement and make recommendations on systems security best practices.
  • On‑call rotation as indicated by Manager.
  • Any other functions added by the Data Center Manager.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related Information Technology, or equivalent education and training.
  • 5–7 years of experience in Linux Systems Administration, including shell scripting (per, Korn, Bash), creating cron jobs, analyzing log files, managing user accounts/ groups, high availability, and configuring iptables.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Nutanix, Hyper‑V, ESXi, storage, and backup.
  • Experience managing backups through Rubrik.
