Aviation Engine Mechanic (Production/MRO Associate)
Job Purpose Manufacturing team member with the responsibility of performing operations involving assembly, inspection, repair, and test of aircraft engines.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in training of associates.
- Support the maintenance of engine kitting by supporting layout of engine hardware parts and storage utilizing shadowing for parts control.
- Compile supporting data to Preliminary Review (PR) disposition for nonconforming product decisions.
- Document technical data and provide timely communication of results.
- Perform visual/quality checks of assembly hardware to maintain 100% traceability of product.
- Perform hands‑on engine assembly at the highest level of skill as needed to support the team.
- Perform hands‑on engine repair activities at the highest level of skill as needed to support the team.
Minimum Education al Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA certified power plant maintenance license.
Minimum Experience
- 3+ years in aviation manufacturing and/or maintenance facility is a bonus.
- 1+ years specific to jet engine maintenance is a bonus.
Other Skills
- Experience in assembly, inspection, testing, kitting, and/or inventory control.
- Ability to interpret basic drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Use of hand tools and limited precision measuring instruments.
- Analysis of simple technical issues within area of expertise.
- Understanding of safety/ergonomics to incorporate during build process.
- Computer skills to utilize MES and ERP systems.
- Experience with investigational tools and systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory agency requirements to assure compliance.
- Advanced knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations.
- Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to use shop hand and power tools, balancing equipment, perform engine test preparation, product acceptance testing, diagnosis, and equipment calibration.
- Trouble‑shooting skills within area of expertise.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills with strong understanding of engine manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use basic blueprints, tool write‑ups, sketches, verbal information, appropriate manuals, etc., to perform assigned work instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Ability to be flexible with job assignments and quickly master new tasks.
Working Conditions
- Travel:
No travel expected. - Physical:
Manufacturing environment with minimal desk work. Frequent kneeling, standing, reaching, squatting, bending, pushing and lifting. Some physical effort required (pushing 300+ pounds on wheeled cart; lifting 25‑50 pounds). - Hazards:
Risks found in typical aviation shop setting. Exposure to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, chemicals, moving parts, hot parts. - Overtime:
Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities. - Professional conduct and policy adherence required.
- May be enrolled in a DOT/FAA Anti‑Drug and Alcohol Misuse program.
