Material Handler - 2nd Shift at OPW Global
OPW Global is a global leader in fluid‑handling solutions with a history dating back to 1892. We seek an experienced Material Handler to support our distribution center operations on the second shift.
ScopeThe Material Handler is responsible for monitoring material needs, picking and delivering materials, maintaining inventory levels, and submitting order requests. Prior warehouse experience, attention to detail, and logistics skills are required.
Responsibilities- Monitor material needs via visual inspection, oral instructions, or work orders; pick materials from storage and deliver to staging areas using forklifts, cranes, sit‑down tow motors, and stand‑up tow motors.
- Track inventory movements by scanning labels, including packing slips, and entering data into the Shop Floor Plus system.
- Load and unload freight and materials at docks or delivery vehicles using forklifts and tow motors.
- Check delivery quantities, sort materials, and store items per departmental storage system.
- Attach identifying tags to containers and mark them with identifying information.
- Install protective devices such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure inventory protection and organization.
- Monitor inventory levels and submit material order requests as needed.
- Prepare shipments, including counting or weighing parts, organizing orders by destination and priority, scanning and tracking orders, and communicating with delivery drivers for accuracy.
- Check forklifts and other machinery for full charge and proper functioning.
- Construct boxes using a staple gun.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Materials Handler.
- Integrity – reliability, responsibility, and accountability.
- Ability to work safely, including operating heavy machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform repeated physical tasks.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
- Experience operating forklifts, sit‑down tow motors, and stand‑up tow motors.
- Strong communication, coordination, and logistics skills.
- Computer proficiency – experience with Shop Floor Plus;
Infor ERP XA Power‑Link preferred. - Strong attention to detail.
- Basic math skills (algebra, fractions, measurements, weights).
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
