Job Summary:

- Role:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

- Schedule:

3x12 hour night shifts (7p-7a); weekend rotation; holidays as needed
- Unit: 30-bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care (PCU), rooms monitored by Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
- Patient Ratio:
Typically 1:5; 1:4 with drips/BiPAP
- Staffing Support:
Nurse Assistants 24/7; RN secretary 7a-11p
- Scheduling: 6-week self-assisted schedule via Optilink; based on departmental need, patient acuity, skill mix, and previous assignments

- Minimum Experience:

2 years Cardiac PCU required; first-time travelers accepted

- Preferred Experience:

Previous Charge RN experience
- Certifications

Required:

BLS, ACLS; NIH preferred
- EMR System: EPIC
- Rapid Response Teams:
Preferred experience
- Required Clinical

Skills:

- Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
- Telemetry monitoring
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
- Peripheral & PICC line care/management
- Management and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Procedural sedation administration
- Chest tube & external CPAP/BiPAP management
- Tracheostomy management
- Patient Population Focus:
- Primary:
Cardiac (CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cath, MI, syncope, pacemaker)
- Secondary:
Respiratory (COPD, pneumonia, BiPAP)
- Mandatory Exam:
Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced Cardiac PCU RN, comfortable managing up to 5 patients, skilled in cardiac and respiratory care, and flexible with schedule and compliance requirements.
