SummaryManager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, helps set methods and approaches to achieve store goals and initiatives, and upholds policies and standards from the visual manual. The Manager in Training promotes sales, serves as an ambassador of Hibbett to create a unique customer experience, and maintains outstanding customer service.
In the Store Manager’s absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory control and is trained on Store Manager responsibilities.
- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling store assets.
- Consult on action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager are absent.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Inform the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager about inventory movements and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and train on Store Manager responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as described in the customer service manual, helping customers as they enter the store and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett.
- Uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards listed in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and notifying management of potential fraud risk.
- Supervise employees during the Store Manager’s absence, carrying out duties in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and the organization’s procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and achieve overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
