The University of Vermont Health Network and Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine are seeking applicants for the position of Chief, Division of Hematology and Oncology.
The Division Chief will lead a division dedicated to excellence in clinical care, research, and education. Responsibilities include ensuring high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, developing strategic initiatives, and contributing to the growth of the Division. The Chief will set strategic goals aligned with the department's mission, including expanding cancer care across rural areas. Other duties involve faculty development, fostering a collaborative environment, promoting teamwork, supporting the academic mission, and working closely with the UVM Cancer Center to achieve NCI designation.
The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology is a leader in blood disorder and cancer care in Vermont and northern New York, comprising 26 physicians at UVM Medical Center, 7 at network sites, 10 research faculty, and 22 advanced practice providers. The fellowship program is ACGME-accredited and will expand from 6 to 9 fellows starting July 2025, with additional training in rural cancer care delivery.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in clinical leadership, research, program development, faculty recruitment, and community engagement. A collaborative approach working with interdisciplinary teams is essential. The position requires an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial leader committed to elevating the Division and Cancer Center to national prominence.
