Bolton Ski & Ride Youth Program Sports Counselor
The City of Burlington invites applications for the Bolton Ski & Ride Youth Program Sports Counselor position. The program takes place at Bolton Valley Resort and requires overseeing the program, providing facilitation and supervision of participants during transitions, transportation, and at the mountain/clubhouse.
Counselors will ride the bus to and from the resort on the Hunt or Edmunds bus and work five to seven hours per week, primarily on Thursday evenings, January to March 2026.
Essential Job Functions- Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
- Assist the Program Director in organizing the program.
- Assist the Program Director in supervising participants and volunteers.
- Assist the Program Director in maintaining accountability of all participants and gear, checking the area for safety hazards and reporting deficiencies.
- Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Report all accidents/incidents occurring within jurisdiction to the supervisor and administer proper first aid as required.
- Be onsite before the program starts for setup and preparation; required to clean up at the end of the day.
- Participate in the evaluation process.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts.

- Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized setting preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework in education, childhood development, family studies, or recreation preferred.
- Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.
- Ability to deal effectively with discipline problems, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Knowledge of safety principles and practices applicable to group activities.
- Knowledge of various recreation‑leisure activities and group games.
- First‑Aid/CPR training required; certification courses available after hire.
- Enthusiasm, patience, a desire to work with children, and creativity.
