Job Description
The Surgical Room Specialist I functions within the policies and procedures of UVMMC and Peri Operative Services, assisting with patient care before, during and after surgical procedures. The role includes clinical and technical activities such as patient positioning, transport, OR equipment preparation and maintenance, anesthesia support during intubation, and pathological and laboratory specimen handling. The specialist works under the direction of OR leadership and under supervision of room staff (nursing and providers).
Responsibilities- Assist with patient positioning and transport.
- Prepare and maintain OR equipment.
- Provide anesthesia support during intubation.
- Handle pathological and laboratory specimens.
- Assist other tasks under the direction of OR leadership and supervision of nursing and providers.
HS Diploma or GED.
Experience1 year of patient care experience is preferred.
Knowledge / Special Skills- Acquire BLS per hospital policy (biannual renewal required).
