Job DescriptionProvides physical therapy to patients in varying states of health and illness. Physical Therapy Assistant manage movement dysfunction, enhance physical and functional abilities, and promote optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health. Physical Therapy Assistant prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
Physical Therapy Assistants function as an essential member of therapy and multidisciplinary teams providing direct care to patients. They teach and prepare patients/families and caregivers for continued care after discharge. The Physical Therapy Assistant may be involved in consultative services within UVM Medical Center and in the community. The Physical Therapy Assistant demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care.
Physical Therapy Assistants shall provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and shall communicate with the physical therapist when patient/client status requires modifications to the established plan of care.
- Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant associate degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Vermont
Acute Care experience preferred.
