Cytologist

Overview

Join to apply for the Cytologist role at The University of Vermont Medical Center.

• Cytologists evaluate cellular samples for the presence of infectious processes, precancerous changes and invasive cancer.
• Report routine gynecologic samples and render preliminary diagnoses on potentially abnormal gynecologic samples, all non-gynecologic samples, and all fine needle aspirations.
• Assist with processing fine needle aspiration specimens for cytologic evaluation.
• Assist with teaching students, residents, and fellows rotating into the department of Cytopathology.

• Education:
  
  A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus 12 months of training in a CAAHEP-accredited school of cytotechnology, or equivalency qualification as specified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
• Certification:
  Cytologist board certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (CT(ASCP)), or eligible.

• Sign-on bonus:
  External candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus between $3,000 - $5,000 depending on years of experience. Current employees of the UVM Health Network are not eligible. Additional terms and conditions apply.
• Relocation:
  Up to $9,200 relocation package available for eligible candidates. Certain terms and conditions apply.
