Travel RN Job Details

• Location:
  
  Burlington, VT 05401 (Vermont nursing jobs)
• Facility Setting:
  Cardiac Progressive Care Stepdown Unit (PCU) – Telemetry/Surgical Focus
• Assignment Length: 26 weeks (10/6/2025 – 4/6/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (3x12-hour shifts/week, 36 hours/week)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2160–$2210/week
• Unit:
  Miller 3 – PCU, 32 beds
• Patient Population:
  Adult and geriatric patients
• Charting System:
  Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for Vermont healthcare jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or telemetry unit
• Recent experience in a Level 1 trauma center within the last year
• Previous travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system within the past 2 years
• Experience with cardiothoracic vascular and post-op day 1 open/closed heart patients
• Certifications:
  
  AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (PCCN certification preferred)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious flu exemptions accepted)
• Willingness to float to similar units as needed
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (public transportation not available)
• All-season or snow tires required for vehicles November–April

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and surgical patients in a progressive care unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage cardiac drips, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Provide care for pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients
• Administer blood products, manage central/PICC lines, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Implement isolation precautions and follow infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Accurately document patient care in Epic EMR
• Float to similar units as needed and work 2 out of 4 major holidays if scheduled
