RN – Nursing Supervisor Overview

As a Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor
, you’ll oversee the nursing care delivered across your assigned shift. You'll supervise unit staff, support clinical excellence, and be a key player in ensuring safe, compassionate, and compliant resident care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned nursing units.
  • Support, guide, and lead LPNs and CNAs.
  • Respond to resident needs and medical concerns in real-time.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Support the Director of Nursing with clinical and leadership tasks.

Requirements
  • Active RN license in Vermont (or eligible for reciprocity).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Leadership potential and a passion for resident‑centered care.
  • Prior long‑term care experience is a plus, but not required for new grads.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Responsible for responding immediately to residents’ requests.
  • Supervise nursing care services and staff on all units while on duty.
  • Actively promote facility safety programs.
  • May assume responsibility as the Infection Preventionist Nurse.
  • Assume responsibility for nursing services in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing Services and/or Director of Nursing Services.

  • Able to relate well with residents, families and co‑workers.
  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Team‑focused demeanor.
  • Strong supervisory skills for managing and coordinating care of residents.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a state license in applicable state you are performing work and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience and at least one (1) year of experience in a nursing leadership role.
  • Interest or experience in geriatrics.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Experience with dementia population desirable.
  • English language proficiency at an intermediate or more advanced level.
