Job SummaryThe Outside Sales Representative (OSR) is responsible for profitably growing Atlantic Plywood's sales through disciplined territory management, strategic selling, and a relentless focus on delivering customer value. OSRs serve as business consultants, building demand for APC's core and new products, expanding market share, defending existing business, and contributing to APC’s position as the best, most professionally run sales organization in our industry.
The OSR must consistently meet or exceed sales and profit goals, leverage Salesforce to drive and document all customer interactions and opportunities, and actively contribute to business initiatives. This is a field-based role requiring extensive customer-facing activity and effective self-management.
A motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be conducted, and an acceptable record will be required.
Key Responsibilities Sales Growth and Profitability- Meet or exceed annual sales and profit plans.
- Exceed assigned Business Unit sales performance targets.
- Create and close new sales opportunities in both existing and new accounts.
- Drive demand for new products through education, presentation, and pipeline development.
- Execute focus product sales goals.
- Maintain and grow a portfolio of active customers while identifying and onboarding at least 20 new accounts per year.
- Consistently solidify existing relationships and create new relationships with decision‑makers and influencers.
- Execute strategic, productive sales calls with clear objectives aligned to account growth and opportunity development.
- Record all sales activities, customer interactions, follow‑ups, and sales calls in Salesforce daily without exception.
- Create and manage sales opportunities within Salesforce as directed.
- Use Salesforce dashboards and reports to forecast, manage pipeline health, and prioritize customer engagement.
- Pre‑plan a minimum of 10 targeted sales calls per day.
- Conduct monthly strategic ride‑alongs with a Sales Manager, Product Manager, and Vendor Representatives.
- Execute full, pre‑planned sales days and meet or exceed business unit expectations for calls per day.
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline, focusing on identifying and progressing growth opportunities.
- Defend and grow existing business through smart territory allocation and time management.
- Partner effectively with Product Managers, Vendor Representatives, and Demand Creation Teams.
- Participate fully in company‑driven initiatives and training programs.
- Support cross‑selling and cross‑support efforts across business units.
- Actively engage with management on market intelligence, competitive insights, and product opportunities.
- Consistently execute a structured, disciplined sales approach focused on growth, profitability, and professionalism.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, aligned to forecast goals and territory objectives.
- Deliver professional, value‑based sales presentations that differentiate APC in the marketplace.
- Defend and grow business efficiently, allocating time wisely between offense (growth) and defense (retention).
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of proven success in an outside B2B sales environment, preferably within building materials, industrial sales, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated CRM discipline (Salesforce strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
