We are hiring an experienced Fire Alarm Inspection and Service Technician to support commercial fire alarm and low-voltage work throughout Vermont. This role is inspection-first, with additional service responsibilities, and occasional assistance on installation projects as needed. The right candidate already understands commercial fire alarm systems, works efficiently in the field, and can operate independently with minimal oversight. Candidates with cross-trade low-voltage experience (security, access control, CCTV) are strongly preferred.
WorkSchedule
- 4‑day work week.
- 10‑hour shifts.
- Occasional overtime may be required, including night work, weekends, and on‑call emergency response (on‑call bonus pay is provided regardless of whether an emergency call occurs).
Milton, Vermont
Required Licensing- Active Vermont Fire Alarm TQP License.
- Vermont S‑Type Commercial Fire Alarm License.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Perform scheduled inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on commercial fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Service and troubleshoot low‑voltage fire alarm wiring, devices, and control panels across multiple manufacturers.
- Identify deficiencies, perform minor repairs, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, service reports, and documentation using a tablet or mobile device.
- Follow assigned inspection schedules and complete work within required time frames.
- Communicate clearly with customers, property managers, and internal staff.
- Build and maintain strong, professional customer relationships.
- Provide guidance and support to junior technicians or trainees when applicable.
- Adhere strictly to company safety policies, jobsite protocols, and applicable codes.
- Minimum two years of field experience with commercial fire alarm systems.
- Documented experience with low‑voltage electrical systems (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, submittals, and technical manuals.
- Proficient with hand tools, test equipment, and multimeters.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and basic computer applications (Word, Excel, mobile apps).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and working on ladders, lifts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
