Position: Housing Advocate - Bridges Recovery Shelter- Full Time

Overview

The Housing Advocate for CVOEO’s Bridges Recovery Shelter provides direct support and advocacy for individuals experiencing homelessness who are committed to living in recovery from drugs and alcohol. The position integrates housing-focused case management with recovery support and mental health resources in a trauma-informed, client-centered environment.

The Housing Advocate works directly with shelter guests to secure safe, stable, and supportive housing while coordinating with internal staff and community partners to address barriers to recovery, employment, and wellness. This role is critical to ensuring guests’ successful transition from shelter to permanent housing and sustained recovery. This position reports to the Bridges Recovery Shelter Director (or Associate Director).

Shift Schedule
  • Monday-Friday 1pm-9pm
  • Monday-Friday 3:45pm-12:15am
  • Monday-Friday 11:45pm-8:15am
  • Friday-Tuesday 11:45pm-8:15am

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in housing advocacy, homelessness services, recovery housing, and behavioral health.
  • Strong knowledge of housing resources, homelessness prevention, and recovery support services.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented approaches, and harm reduction principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills; ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals in recovery.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data management systems (e.g., HMIS) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required.
