Scope of Responsibilities
- Attend Staff training dates as necessary.
- Assist Program Directors in organizing the overall program structure.
- Assist Program Directors in hosting groups at camp.
- Ability to run and/or assist with campfires and evening programs.
- Teach Outdoor Educational classes to schools & retreat group rentals.
- Complete light kitchen and maintenance work as needed.
- Assist Program Dir. in planning and implementation of a program for all rental groups during the week/weekends.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, guests, campers, and staff peers.
- Provide feedback and input at staff meetings.
- To support and act as a resource person to fellow staff members.
- Responsible for facilitating safe programs which meet the customer’s needs.
- Attend in-service training appropriate to all components of program delivery and service.
- Share with fellow staff teaching and leadership tools and tricks.
- Maintain high levels of safety standards and enforce all the rules customers and staff are required to follow.
- Assist Program Directors in all other programmatic requests and group needs.
- Complete all tasks assigned by Program Directors and/or Executive Director.
- If you live on, live on staff must be flexible about and beyond scheduled program hours (as sometimes we are requested/required to deliver programs on impromptu notice).
Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor. Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children. Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor. Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
- Minimum of 18 years old.
- Proven abilities in working with children and in recreational settings.
- Experience and skills in a variety of camp experiences.
- Ability to lead and direct students and campers of all ages.
