Overview

Factory Project Engineer  role provides technical leadership by identifying, developing and executing capital projects for the factory. The position maintains visibility to the design process and ensures adherence to project deliverables, while directly managing project execution including construction and commissioning. The role coordinates with the client and with various internal and external groups.

Relocation assistance is available for candidates that are not local to the Burlington, WI area.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Preliminary Project Development including Charter development - 20%
  • Assist in development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate and milestone schedule creation.
  • Monitor design progress and deliverables in adherence to established project components.
  • Coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.
  • Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering ways of working methodology.
  • Project Execution support and facilitation - 45%
  • Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
  • Manage adherence to project scope and secure approvals for all changes in projects based on engineering methods.
  • Manage and control project budget with cost forecasts and cash flow projections; develop project cost and status reports monthly or as needed.
  • Maintain project milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as per project charter.
  • Manage data collection and feedback processes for projects.
  • Monitor processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution.
  • Evaluate, select, and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
  • Provide self-directed project management of assigned projects end-to-end with minimal supervision.
  • Administrative / Business Support - 15%
  • Provide technical support to Factory operations.
  • Support Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) as part of responsibilities within the Business Unit or assigned factory.
  • Safety - 10%
  • Maintain an attitude of intolerance for unsafe conditions and ensure changes are assessed for impact on product safety, people safety and environment.
  • Other - 10%
  • Uphold ethical conduct and ensure interactions are fair and above reproach; promote clear communication with team and stakeholders; protect Nestlé's know-how.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • University Degree (BA/BS) or technical degree with 3-5 years of related work experience, required
  • 1 to 2 years of direct Project Engineering experience on projects up to $2 million
  • Experience with PMI stage-gate procedures and basic knowledge of I & I pillar project methods
  • Ability to manage Scope, Cost, Schedule and risks on small to mid-size projects
  • Subject matter expert in a particular field of engineering (process, packaging, refrigeration, etc.) preferred
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze data
  • Problem-solving skills and effective change implementation abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to schedule resources to support continuous improvement without sacrificing day-to-day results
