Scope Of Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
  • Set up and maintain workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, adjusting cooking methods as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist in inventory management, including checking stock levels and placing orders when necessary.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
  • Handle and store food items properly to minimize waste and ensure safety.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
  • Support Food Service Manager and other kitchen staff with meal preparation and special requests as needed.
  • Participate in kitchen clean up and maintenance tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Assist in packaging and serving food items during mealtimes.
  • Positively interact with program participants and other team members to create a respectful, warm, supportive environment.
  • Participate in all mandatory training sessions and in-service workshops to enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and other special events.
  • Support other departments as needed.
Minimum And Required Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent work/education experience.
  • Must have a minimum 1 year of work experience in the food service industry – previous experience as a cook preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, oral and written skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Be able to maintain positive relationships with all customers from point of contact.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Child Abuse Prevention
  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.

  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
