We are seeking two (2) detail‑oriented and collaborative Intermediate Accountants to join our Corporate Finance team in our Head Office in Burnaby, British Columbia. Reporting to the Treasurer and/or the Corporate Controller, the Accountants will support the financial operations of the Norland group of companies through daily accounting, treasury, reporting and compliance activities.
The successful candidates will work closely with other finance and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions while supporting internal controls, financial reporting and continuous process improvements across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and operational teams to support timely payments, collections, and other cash transactions.
- Manage daily cash and treasury activities, including posting cash receipts, processing online and wire payments, payroll source deduction remittances, and petty cash administration.
- Process accounting entries related to loans, overdraft interest, shareholder interest, and other financing‑related transactions.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple entities and investigate and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Administer corporate credit card activities, including card setup, reconciliations, monitoring, and limit transfers.
- Maintain customer setup, vendor setup, and banking information within accounting and banking systems.
- Prepare and post recurring journal entries, month‑end accruals, and general ledger adjustments.
- Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparation of working papers, schedules, and reconciliations.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analyze account variances to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and file GST, PST, casual PST, T5018, and other regulatory or compliance‑related filings for the Norland group of companies.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting procedures, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies.
- Assist the Treasurer, Corporate Controller, and senior leadership with special accounting projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Post‑secondary Degree in Business or Accounting would be preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office Software.
- Previous experience working with ERP systems and banking platforms.
- Proven knowledge of finance, accounting and cost controls.
- Self‑starter, team player willing to work collaboratively towards achieving the strategic goals of the company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The role is a permanent, full‑time position with a typical starting salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
