Payroll Administrator (Full-Time, 6-Month Contract)As our Payroll Administrator
, you will partner closely with our Payroll Specialist to support accurate, compliant payroll for approximately 4,000 employees while delivering exceptional service. This role requires precision, problem-solving, and partnership in a fast-paced environment to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, every time.
- Partner on Payroll Processing (45% of your time): process semi-monthly payroll for 4,000+ hourly and salaried employees across four business entities; manage payroll imports including commissions, bonuses, compensation adjustments, and deductions; process payroll payments and generate pay cheques; verify payroll data and ensure proper authorization; identify opportunities to improve payroll processes; provide guidance to management; assist with year-end activities (T4s and T2200s).
- Be the Payroll Problem-Solver (35% of your time): respond to inquiries related to vacations, terminations, pay discrepancies, reimbursements, etc.; review transactions for accuracy and compliance; calculate termination pay; issue ROEs and liaise with Service Canada; provide exceptional customer service.
- Ensure Union Compliance (10% of your time): maintain compliance with collective agreements and regulations; administer union dues, benefits, and pension contributions; process and reconcile union remittances.
- Drive Excellence (10% of your time): streamline payroll processes; prepare payroll reports; support management reporting; process off-cycle payrolls and special payments; support mass ROE processing and deactivations.
- Your Expertise
: strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, accounting, and tax regulations; experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas). - Your Strengths
